BOSS FROG

Hadih! I'm Denise Halfyard. I am a  proud Wet'suwet'en, Tsimshian, Gitxsan woman from the Laksilyu clan, which means Small Frog in Wet'suwet'en and am a member of the Kitsumkalum First Nation.​​​ I am:

- a professional voice actor 

​- co-owner of Ukee Sound/Halfyard Studios boutique recording studio

- the Manager for the Tears to Hope Society, a non-profit organization that raises awareness for MMIWG

 

I was the founder of The Frog Radio, an online station dedicated to Indigenous music of all genres from across Turtle Island, which ran from September 2020 until I had to shut it down in November 2025. However, music just stayed with me. It's something that I start my day with and is almost always playing in my home.

THE LABEL

Historically, Indigenous people are still storytellers, whether through art or music. Small Frog Records was created to help Indigenous musicians tell their stories throught song.

 

Small Frog Records is in a unique position: we operate and run Ukee Sound, a professional recording studio nestled in the rainforest of Uclulet BC. My husband, Brent Halfyard, is the resident engineer, using his skills to help our artists develop their musicianship. From producing, directing, co-writing if needed, being a session musician or sourcing musicians, and promoting the music in a variety of ways long after the tune is mastered.

 

We are passionate about making a human connection between the musician and the listener. Small Frog Records exists because we are singers. We are guitartists. We are songwriters. We are drummers. We are activists. We are storytellers. We are still here!
